Updates will be slow from December 19th, 2025-January 5th, 2026, as we take time off for the holidays. Thanks for understanding!

9to5Mac:

The $50/year price point and quality issues led to a rocky start. And now Brownlee has announced that the app will be shut down soon as it was unable to achieve his vision.

That’s the best TL:DR I could find. Given that context, it’s a little unsurprising to say the least; I don’t think anyone really expected it to take off. I did give them kudos in a previous post to my (archived, previous) personal blog, to be fully transparent, on changes they were making to improve the experience.

For the decision to shutdown the app, however, MKBHD has a video going into detail on the winding down which you can watch here. Ultimately, it seems like this is the best move for all involved.
