I do allow connections to provide free and/or comped access to their apps or services, but only with the understanding that coverage is NOT guaranteed.
I do not accept nor provide favors in exchange for favorable or negative coverage. That includes travel, food, or anything like that from companies. I used to have exceptions, but I don’t anymore. I have learned as a young adult in his 20s that integrity and brutal honesty is more important to me.
If I’m provided a review unit from say, Apple (or any company for that matter), I reserve the right to–and probably will–say negative things. If I don’t like something, I will not lie about it. I will provide constructive criticism at every turn, in the interest of protecting consumers like myself.
I will try to reach out and offer the opportunity to respond, if possible. The United States, where I am based, does not have right to respond laws on the books. So with that being said — if a company or individual is engaging in active harm that’s provable with extraordinary evidence, I will not reach out. To ensure it is always unbiased, I will instead present any information I have collected to three third parties before publication and waiving of any comment.
